Filing and paying your taxes should be as convenient as possible. That’s why the IRS offers

Online Tools to guide you through the process — from answering your tax law questions to checking the status of your refund. Here are just a few of the tools available to you:

• Try the free IRS’ Smartphone application, IRS2Go . As a taxpayer it can help you get the information you need: whenever you need it; wherever you are.

• Find out if you qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit.

• If you have tax law questions, use the Interactive Tax Assistant to help find answers.

• Use the Sales Tax Deduction Calculator to figure the optional amount you can itemize on Schedule A, Form 1040.

• Use the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) Assistant to determine whether you may be subject to AMT.

• The First Time Homebuyer Credit Account Look-up Tool will help you determine if you need to pay back any of the credit, and, if so, how much.

• Order a transcript online.

• Get your Electronic Filing PIN, a one-time code used to verify your identity.

• Find out the status of your refund.

• If you are an employee, the Withholding Calculator can help you avoid having too much or too little federal income tax withheld from your pay.

• If you can't pay your taxes in full and on time, find out if you qualify for an Online Payment Agreement.

• Use Interactive Tax Assistant, a tax law resource that takes you through a series of questions and provides you with responses to tax law questions.
