You can get quick and reliable answers to your tax questions with the Interactive Tax Assistant on IRS.gov. The ITA tool is a tax law resource that takes you through a series of questions and provides you with answers to tax law questions. IRS continues to add new topics to the ITA each year.
There are various tax law categories within the ITA, including credits, deductions, general filing questions and income. New for 2013, you can now get information on claiming medical or dental expenses on Schedule A; deducting student loan interest; claiming the American Opportunity Tax Credit and Lifetime Learning Credit or the tuition fees deduction; and reporting residential rental income and/or expenses. If you’ve got a tax-related question today, then go to the ITA.
