The 2010 Winter Rebate program started Monday, December 20, 2010. Appliance rebates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis through a purchase and mail-ins rebate program. Only purchases on or after December 20, 2010 will be eligible. This is similar to the Texas Trade Up Appliance Rebate Program which launched in April 2010 and landed nearly $12.5 million in rebates in the hands of Texas residents. What types of appliances will be eligible for rebates?
- Refrigerators, freezers, room air conditioners, clothes washers, dishwashers, central air conditioners, air-source heat pumps and water heaters are the main categories.
Do I have to replace an existing appliance to be eligible for a rebate?
- Yes, participants must agree to replace and dispose of existing appliances with a new ENERGY STAR® qualified model of a similar appliance category.
